Can I submit my own artwork for print?

Yes, you may order printing and upload your artwork online.  See our artwork guidelines for best results.

How to setup artwork for print?

Step 1 – 300dpi
Please make sure that the file is set at 300dpi (dots per inch). 300dpi refers to the quality or resolution of the artwork. Brand U has a minimum requirement of 300dpi for all printed material.

Step 2 – bleed
When setting up your work, please create the document size with a bleed. A bleed is the excess room at the edge of a document needed for cutting around the border of the printed material. Brand U requires for all print ready artwork to contain a bleed that extends 1/8 inch (.125 inches)  around the print document.

Step 3 – CMYK
Brand U uses an offset press for all printing. In order for colors to print correctly, please set the print color mode to CMYK. CMYK is an abbreviation for the colors cyan, magenta, yellow, and black.

Artwork Setup for Upgrades - Raised Gloss Enhancements, Embossing & Decorative Foil
Once you have decided where you would like raised gloss or foil, Brand U asks for you to create an additional layer within the design document. After you've created the new layer, please label each upgrade separately (ex: raised gloss, decorative foil).

What is a satin finish?

Brand U uses satin finishes with our exquisite designs as our signature line of  printed products.  A satin finish is classy, professional, and elegant. Our printing is fully customizable and offers a water resistant, durable coating that makes the printed piece almost impossible to tear...and it's writable, unlike traditional glossy finishes.

Brand U offers satin business cards, postcards, brochures, and presentation folders in 10pt and 15pt cardstock. The cardstock is coated with a durable, weather resistant, laminate coating. Our satin coating is a wonderful compliment to spot gloss (uv), embossing, decorative colored foil, and/or stylish rounded corners. The satin printing process implements traditional full-color printing methods with a satiny-matte finish.

First, your artwork is printed on durable card stock, and then dried to perfection. Second, the printed card stock is laminated by a satin coating. Third, decorative varnish may be applied to the silk lamination to improve the printed pieces look and appearance. The varnish process applied to the card stock is an additional upgrade to the business cards, postcards, brochures, etc... However, remember that varnish has the ability to make a simple business card print luxuriously. Fourth, the printed cardstock is laser cut to the correct size. If you have any questions, please contact us at 301-560-4130. Our print specialists will answer your satin printing questions and inquiries.

What is raised gloss?

Raised gloss enhancements are a glossy varnish that is complimented by a matte-finish.  The clear coating is slightly raised above the cardstock and is applied over the ink in specified locations.

What is decorative foil?

Decorative foil is the process of stamping a shiny, thin metal die onto printed cardstock.  Decorative foil accents the printed piece by accentuating important content such as a logo or a complany slogan.  Brand U provides decorative foil in the following colors: metallic silver, polished gold, brilliant blue, valentine red, and forrest green.

What is embossing?

Embossing is the process of creating a three-dimensional image or design in printed cardstock.

What are rounded corners?

Rounded corners is the process of cutting printed cardstock with a rounded die.  Brand U provided stylish rounded corners in a 1/8 inch cut on 1, 2, 3 or 4 sides.
